TMD And Headaches
The are many factors which cause headaches and unfortunately due to how common headaches can be, the root cause is often hard to identify. If you suffer from recurrent headaches from jaw pain, it is possible that the pain could be caused by Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD) which essentially restricts the movement of the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ).
The Science of Cerezen
The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) attaches the lower jaw to the skull and allows you move your jaw in a range of motions to speak, chew, laugh etc. The TMJ is described as a joint with a hinge like action that is combined with sliding motions. If the TMJ is compromised in anyway then it can lead TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders).
Your ear canals are located close to the Temporomandibular Joint. Jaw movement affects ear canal volume. Whilst wearing your Cerezen devices, every time your jaw moves, a subtle pressure is applied by the wearing of the devices against the walls of your ear canals, creating an awareness of jaw actions which contribute to TMD. The Cerezen devices effectively encourage the jaw to return to a relaxed position and provides TMD symptom relief.
A detailed history is required. Once this is complete, if Cerezen may be an option for you, you will be referred to a specialist Audiologist for impressions of your ear canal. The Cerezen inserts are custom made to fit your ears. Mona will fit the Cerezen inserts and review you a month later to see how you are progressing.
You can wear the inserts whenever you need to use them (except in the shower). They are unobtrusive and hollow, allowing you to hear normally, so can be worn through the day, unlike intra-oral splints which affect speech and eating.
